For some reason, it seems like the holiday season starts earlier and earlier every year. It’s always such a shock when Halloween is over and out come the Christmas decorations in every store. However, if you’re anything like my wife, you love decorating for Christmas. It makes your home feel cozy and warm and brings hope of good times with family and friends. With the changing trends each season it is so easy to get caught up in buying new Christmas décor that could really push your holiday budget to the limit. And what do you do with the old stuff you don’t use anymore? Sometimes, with a little creativity, you can find household items, craft supplies, or a great deal at a local store to add a few new items to your collections that can really spruce up home and keep you on budget.
Here are three easy steps to making some new wallet friendly Christmas decorations:
1) Take a stroll through a local park and see if you can find some cedar bows or pine cones. With a little trimming and some glitter you could make a Christmas wreath for your door or a center piece for your dinner table.
2) Check out your local dollar store. They often have beautiful Christmas decorations for a very reasonable price… 1$. We all love the expensive look but with a little creativity, those cheap dollar store ornaments can become something beautiful.
3) Hit up some craft markets. I know what you are thinking… how is that budget friendly? Maybe you aren’t there to buy, but rather to find some new ideas of things you can do yourself. You can also check out some of the websites (my wife’s personal favorite is Pinterest) and there are many DIY ideas for making your home beautiful for the holidays.
