In Flanders Fields the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row… Today we take time to sit in silence and remember those who lost their lives fighting for our country. I am so thankful for the men and women who serve in the army, who give up time with their family and friend, and who risk their lives everyday to fight for what is right. Vimy ridge is one of the most memorialized and remembered battles of the First World War. Taking place in April 1917, the Canadian Corps succeeded in capturing Vimy ridge from the German army. However, 10,500 Canadians lost their lives that day. I am proud to be a Canadian and today I will pray for and remember those who fought during the First World War, Second World War, and those who are still fighting today to keep Canada the safe and free country it is. LEST WE FORGET
